Role We are seeking a mission‑driven and strategic

Finance Director

to lead the financial operations of Thrive Counseling Center.

Reporting directly to the President/Executive Director, the Finance Director safeguards the fiscal health and sustainability of the organization, ensures compliance with nonprofit financial standards, leads annual and long‑term budgeting processes, and provides timely, transparent reporting to both the President/Executive Director and Board of Directors.

What You’ll Do

Establish and maintain effective internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, and financial policies

Develop and update accounting policies, procedures, and processes to improve efficiency and transparency

Supervise the accounting and data specialist, ensuring compliance with policies and data submission timelines

Monitor capital expenditures to ensure alignment with approved budgets

Prepare and present timely financial reports to the Board of Directors and Executive Director, highlighting trends and areas for improvement

Facilitate bi‑monthly payroll and update payroll system as needed

Lead the annual budget process and financial forecasting in collaboration with the Leadership Team

Develop grant budgets, monitor spending, and prepare monthly/quarterly invoices and reports

Collaborate with the Development Director to provide information for donor presentations

Oversee billing and client relations staff to ensure quality care, communication, and fee collection

Manage Thrive’s financial hardship and sliding‑scale programs in line with established procedures

Lead annual audit preparation and ensure regulatory compliance

Oversee the organization’s 990 tax filing

Build and maintain relationships with auditors, bankers, and other key financial partners

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)

Certified Public Accountant (required)

Minimum of 8 years of experience in finance leadership, preferably within a nonprofit or healthcare setting with budgets over $3 million

Deep understanding of GAAP accounting principles and nonprofit financial regulations

Experience managing government grants

Experience in cost accounting, budget development, and forecasting

Strong ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights for non‑finance professionals

Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills

Collaborative leadership style with the ability to manage teams and projects effectively

Schedule

Full‑Time, 40 hours per week minimum

Hybrid schedule. Onsite Tuesday through Thursday.

Occasional evening or weekend work may be required for board meetings, audits, or special projects
