HYGIENIST, School of Dental Medicine, Clinical Affairs
A Dental Hygienist is a licensed member of the dental team responsible for the preventive aspects of oral health that provide clinical, education and therapeutic services that promote optimal oral health.
This position is responsible for:
Collecting patient and clinical data by reviewing and updating medical history, identifying contraindications and requesting medical clearance as necessary.
Performing oral cancer screenings and perio assessments, charting dental findings.
Practicing infection control by maintaining a sterile environment in the operatory, inspecting instruments for sterility, and practicing universal precautions.
Providing clinical services by exposing radiographs, performing dental cleanings, performing scaling and root planning with local anesthesia, dispensing fluoride and administering therapeutic agents.
Providing patient education by reviewing home care, oral hygiene instructions and reviewing treatment plans with the patient.
Required Skills
Associate's/Vocational Degree Required and Bachelor's Degree Preferred.
Dental Hygienist license required.
Three to Five years' work experience.
