Position Summary Reporting to the Associate Director, Annual Fund & Community Giving Initiatives, the Development Associate will support efforts to raise revenue and build prospect pipeline from BMCHS’s individual donor population involved with various community-based and athletic engagement opportunities. The Development Associate will work with the Associate Director to offer new and existing low-barrier, introductory philanthropic opportunities for BMCHS individual prospects and donors, with the aim to increase flexible revenue, broaden our network of prospective donors and develop longer-term donor pipeline. The Associate will serve as a strategic thinker, a problem solver, and skilled multi-tasker, adept at working independently and collaboratively under deadlines. Success in this role will rely on initiative, creativity, excellent communication, strong organizational skills, and ability to meet revenue goals.

Essential Responsibilities / Duties

Together with Associate Director, identify and evaluate opportunities to build community fundraising programming, including new programming for BMC and in partnership with third parties.

Lead initiatives and components of these programs at the direction of the Associate Director. Could include Team BMC events, community fundraisers, or affinity groups with a target of raising a minimum of $200,000 in revenue annually through these efforts. Meet and exceed other KPIs as set in annual goal setting process.

Manage BMC’s participation in Winter Walk. Liaison to Winter Walk (the nonprofit) on event logistics and partner expectations, work with internal BMC partners to recruit teams and individual walkers from the BMC community, develop and execute project plan, to support fundraising annual fundraising and participation goals to grow both participation and dollars raised each year.

Work closely with Events team, as needed, to ensure all programs representing BMC follow BMC expectations and policies. Collaborate to plan and execute BMC-hosted events to support key community initiatives such as the Marathon, and to identify and implement opportunities to engage volunteers in signature events (ex: host committee, volunteer support at events, etc).

Provide guidance & best practice tactics to volunteers (peer-to-peer, community fundraising, committees) in execution of networking, prospecting, and fundraising activity. This may include participation in new or existing BMC programming or support of volunteer-led initiatives.

Ensure financial accountability and operational efficiency by overseeing invoices and reimbursements, ensuring prompt payment, and tracking to the established budget.

Work with vendors and volunteers to plan, order, and fulfill orders for initiative-related gear and promotional materials (singlets, promotions, signage) for Team BMC and volunteer-driven programs.

Partner with Development Communications to ensure brand and messaging compliance, leverage existing communications, and create and implement communications plans for community initiatives.

Partner with Operations teams to maintain external systems (GivenGain, QGive, Classy, etc) and internal community fundraising (Fundraise Up) to ensure transfer of information into NXT and appropriate stewardship of donors. Serve as intermediary between operations and partner organizations, as well as point person for all peer-to-peer fundraisers (350+ annually) for questions related to fundraising software as they build giving pages, and solicit and steward gifts.

Adhere to NXT policies and processes to ensure clear reporting and donor recording keeping.

Participate in annual goal setting process.

Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Job Requirements Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years work experience in related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility, may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.

Preferred Education and Experience Experience in administration, volunteer management, or development.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)

Desire to work in a service oriented environment

Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Familiarity with fundraising and events software, Blackbaud NXT preferred

Willingness to learn new software to support volunteer engagement

Proven track record in attention to detail and as a problem solver

Strong professional demeanor

Strong writing and quality control skills

Proven ability to handle a multitude of tasks

Ability to work independently and as part of a team
