Overview The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is seeking a Director of Parent and Family Engagement. This role will lead strategic initiatives to foster meaningful relationships between The Citadel and the families of cadets.
Responsibilities
Lead, plan, and execute major family-focused events on campus, including Parent’s Weekend, Matriculation Day, Remote Admissions events, and cadet sendoffs.
Oversee the parent portal to ensure timely and relevant content and resources.
Build engagement with volunteers to support incoming families; assist with integrating alumni volunteers and serve as primary liaison to the Citadel Family Association (CFA).
Build outreach through newsletters, regular communications with families, event invitations, and updates.
Collaborate with departments such as Admissions, Commandant’s Office, Student Affairs, and Alumni Relations to align family engagement with institutional goals.
Evaluate engagement programs using metrics/feedback to improve effectiveness.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required and 5+ years of experience in a related role.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including public speaking; strong customer service skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Detail‑oriented with ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.
Experience in enrollment management, communications, alumni relations, student activities, orientation, and/or academic advising.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in a relevant field.
Experience working with parents/families of college students, including knowledge of FERPA and applicable laws.
Experience with military‑affiliated institutions.
Demonstrated success in building community and managing volunteers.
Experience with Campus ESP (Parent Engagement Solution) and Slate (CRM).
