Lead Mechanical Engineer – PAE, Boston, MA
PAE is an engineering and design firm committed to sustainability, resilient community building, and innovative performance. We are looking for a seasoned mechanical engineering lead to grow our presence in Boston and shape high‑impact building projects.
Responsibilities
Lead multidisciplinary project teams, ensuring timely, on‑budget delivery.
Prepare deliverables including narratives, calculations, drawings, and specifications.
Coordinate client and internal stakeholder meetings, driving effective collaboration.
Apply engineering judgment to guide projects from concept through construction.
Design mechanical systems (HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Energy Modeling), selecting equipment and performing calculations.
Develop work plans, task assignments, and quality management plans, and oversee project quality assurance.
Conduct site visits, issue reports, and provide technical mentorship to staff.
Maintain and update master specifications, standards, and internal processes.
Build and nurture client relationships, serving as a trusted technical resource.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Preferred professional credential (e.g., PE).
Minimum of 6–10 years of progressive mechanical engineering experience, with 2–4 years in a leadership role.
Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects and assemble high‑performance teams.
Advanced understanding of mechanical engineering concepts, building codes, and industry standards.
Proficient in Revit or AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong communication, delegation, and organizational skills.

Base salary range: $109,000–$143,500 annually (eligible for overtime).
