Assurance Experienced Manager, Accounting Advisory & Outsourcing The Assurance Experienced Manager, Accounting Advisory & Outsourcing manages the full‑life cycle of all assigned finance and accounting outsource engagements. Responsibilities include proposal development, staff assignment and oversight, final work product review, overall portfolio financial performance, client relationship management, regular client meetings, financial reporting, and timely billing. This role also resolves client issues and recommends financial management improvements.

Client Service Delivery

Manages the full‑life cycle of all assigned engagements by providing technical expertise in all areas within the finance and accounting function. Performs complete general ledger reconciliation, records transactions, creates accounting records such as bill payments, invoices, payroll, identifies adjustments, produces accurate financial statements and provides financial analysis.

Understands the technology packages clients use, explains system functions and value, identifies inefficiencies, learns new technology quickly, and applies these technologies to an engagement.

Facilitates discovery meetings with clients, uses open‑ended questions to identify objectives, value areas, and constructs a map of their current internal finance and accounting structure.

Designs integrated solutions tailored to the specific situation; identifies when services outside the department should be included and describes the benefits. Outlines the solution in a concise document and vets it internally with leaders and stakeholders.

Determines the cost of building a client solution and calculates the dollar‑term benefit. If margin supports a profitable engagement, proposes a fixed fee for leadership review.

Works with Senior Managers to formulate recommendations to client leadership on technical accounting issues, policies, procedures, and financial management issues; educates clients on evolving needs and identifies future business opportunities.

Periodically reviews solutions with clients to ensure they remain appropriate and recommends changes.

Manages conflict proactively and engages senior leadership when conflict arises.

Supports the client through business changes, develops and executes change‑management plans, and provides full‑life‑cycle technical management.

Collects necessary information from clients, maintains a list of required data, follows up on missing items, organizes information for accessibility, and maintains strong business relationships internally and externally.

Understands tax planning considerations for various entities, analyzes tax return information, discusses implications with clients, and refers tax matters to Core Tax and Specialty Tax Services as appropriate.

Business Development

Learns business development strategies and service offerings targeted for various industries. Ensures prospect and sales information is entered into CRM.

Recommends and designs solutions for clients.

Evaluates clients for acceptance, develops statements of work, and supports leadership.

Develops exposure to industry teams, becomes aware of industry impact on technical work, and participates in trade groups and networking events.

Identifies new opportunities with existing clients and communicates them to leadership.

Articulates Advisory service offerings and the broader firm to clients, prospects, or contacts.

Understands and articulates the value proposition and target market/client profile.

Developing Others

Fosters a culture that embraces change and accountability.

Identifies staff needs to develop analytics and forecasting skills for interpreting financial results, recognizing trends, and gaining insights into business performance improvements.

Ensures Senior Associates and Associates are trained on all relevant software, processes and resources.

Acts as a Career Advisor to Senior Associates and Associates as appropriate.

Evaluates performance of Senior Associates and Associates and assists in developing goals and objectives aligned with firm objectives.

Participates in recruiting efforts and assists with new employee onboarding.

Serves as a resource for associates, develops in‑depth knowledge of finance and accounting functions, technology, and tax planning differences by industry and business structure; understands compliance and best practices.

Project Management

Creates a work plan following best practices of project management, breaking down projects into phases and tasks, estimating time/budget, setting milestones, managing dependencies, and measuring and reviewing progress.

Bills engagements in a timely and effective manner and contributes to economic management matters such as forecasting and monitoring key metrics.

Scopes new projects and constructs a fee estimate/budget that considers all appropriate details and resource requirements.

Oversees client satisfaction with quality of work products, assigned staff, and engagement performance.

Ensures clients are billed timely and resolves billing issues.

Other duties as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervises the day‑to‑day workload of Senior Associates and Associates on assigned engagements and reviews work products.

Supervises overall client engagement; works with BSC personnel on applicable client engagements by reviewing work and providing feedback on final work product.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field; equivalent experience required.

MBA or other relevant advanced degree (Master of Accountancy) preferred.

Experience

Seven (7) or more years of experience performing general accounting transactions and functions required.

Three (3) or more years of supervisory experience, preferred.

Experience working with outsourced and/or delivery center operations, preferred.

Consultative or business advisory experience preferred.

License/Certifications

CPA certification preferred.

Software

Experience utilizing industry standard accounting software and BDO Drive platform software such as Intuit’s QuickBooks Online (QBO), Microsoft NAV and Bill.com, preferred.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, required.

Prior experience utilizing industry recognized accounting research tools, preferred.

Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Understands the finance and accounting functions generally performed by a business and common best practices/processes; uses this knowledge to analyze current structure and identify inefficiencies.

Presents well in one‑on‑one and small group settings, projects confidence and expertise, communicates clearly, persuades others, and adapts approaches immediately.

Strong analytical and basic research skills.

GAAP knowledge, financial statement presentation, and report writing.

Solid organizational skills and ability to meet project deadlines with focus on details.

Proven ability to work in a deadline‑driven environment, handle multiple projects, and deliver quality to clients.

Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks independently or within a group.

Ability to act as the primary contact on assigned engagements and manage a team of professionals, delegating work assignments as needed.

Ability to effectively manage a team and contribute to professional development of assigned personnel.

Ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels and build strong relationships.

Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

Salary Range National Range: $120,000 - $145,000 Maryland Range: $120,000 - $145,000 NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $120,000 - $145,000
