Quality / Reliability Engineer General
Contract position located in Chicago, IL. Join our client’s Supply Chain team to source the highest quality parts and services worldwide while ensuring optimal cost and on-time delivery.
Responsibilities
Implement commodity‑specific business plans to exceed corporate launch, quality, capacity, warranty metrics and vehicle delivery.
Lead cross‑functional decisions with client and supplier leadership to resolve open issues.
Ensure zero vehicle losses from suppliers and drive corrective actions for emergency supplier situations.
Principal on‑site troubleshooting and corrective actions for emergency supplier situations.
Drive adherence to client standards (i.e., Q1).
Validate manufacturing feasibility at identified supplier sites.
Execute the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and Advanced Quality Planning Process (APQP).
Use data, metrics and business plans to drive future sourcing decisions and improve future quality.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent technical/manufacturing aptitude.
Quality Management, Problem Solving, APQP, PPAP processes experience.
Strong presentation skills to leadership on short notice.
Lead resolution of manufacturing, quality and/or capacity issues on‑site with suppliers.
5+ years in manufacturing processes including Casting, Machining, Forging, Stamping, Welding, Plastic/Rubber Molding, Brazing, Sintering, Automated/Manual Assembly, Controls Automation, Paint, Chroming, SMC.
Preferred manufacturing, maintenance and quality operations experience.
Ability to travel in the US, Canada and Mexico approximately 75 % of the time.
