The Associate Director serves as a member of the admissions team that serves transfer, WINGS and graduate students. The Associate Director is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of strategies to recruit, select, and enroll a diverse student body to meet college enrollment targets. The Associate Director will manage an assigned territory consisting of academic programs that serve adult and graduate populations. The Associate Director of Admissions should possess characteristics indicative of a strong collaborative leader: integrity, intellect, work ethic, initiative, creativity, flexibility, and enthusiasm for the work. Skills important for success in this position include excellent public speaking skills, strong writing skills, planning and problem‑solving, interpreting data to inform and enhance recruitment strategies, and strong relationship‑building and supervisory ability.
Duties
Meet enrollment goals for assigned academic area(s) by representing Meredith at community college visits, community events, working one‑on‑one with families during on‑campus visits, while meeting or exceeding weekly outreach requirements for students across the admissions funnel
Serve as the primary liaison between admissions unit and department heads, faculty and Deans for assigned academic programs – Review applications and offer decisions on behalf of the college based on admissions criteria set by the program and/or college
Collaborate with the admission office leadership team to develop practices that enhance productivity and streamline application, admission, and enrollment processes
Responsibility for coordinating one or more recruiting events and assisting with other events as needed
Monitor and control costs of recruitment travel, and produce follow‑up reports for the effectiveness of travel
Develop relationships with other college departments and key secondary school constituents to enhance customer service and satisfaction
Represent the Office of Admissions in a public‑speaking capacity on and off campus and maintain records of these activities
Collaborate with campus constituents to develop and implement selected recruitment and pre‑orientation events
Serve on College committees as assigned
Perform other related duties as needed or assigned
Skills Needed
Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work with a diverse community
Ability to effectively communicate in person, via phone, and in writing and make effective public presentations
Strong relationship‑building skills
Thorough understanding of College procedures, curricular offerings, student outcomes, and be able to relate this information effectively to prospective students and families
Must be able to understand and explain financial aid programs, eligibility criteria, and award procedures
Ability to interpret and apply data to decision‑making
Ability to maintain an effective applicant tracking system
Strong planning and organization capabilities
Excellent time management and attention to detail
Key Interfaces
Interacts with prospective students, families, and community college liaisons
Outreach and partnerships with local businesses and organizations
Office of Admission staff, and members of the Meredith community
Qualifications
Master’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required
Minimum of three – five years admissions and recruiting experience or related work
Valid NC Driver’s license and clear driving history required
Working Conditions & Physical Demands
General office setting with moderate noise level
Frequent travel required
Evening and weekend work required
