Role Overview Role Overview:

V2X is seeking a Chief Engineer with a focus on production within our Weapon System Integration (WSI) Team in Indianapolis, Indiana. This leadership role drives technical and programmatic excellence in airborne systems development. The Chief Engineer will be part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team, leading with vision and inspiring the team to surpass program objectives.

The role demands a strong engineering development background and close collaboration across internal teams and Department of Defense (DoD) service areas, including the United States Army (USA), United States Air Force (USAF), United States Marine Corps (USMC), and United States Navy (USN). The Chief Engineer will work closely with the Program Manager to address technical concerns, define objectives, and deliver compliant solutions to customers while fostering strong stakeholder relationships.

Key Responsibilities Key Responsibilities:

As a Chief Engineer, you will:

Lead and support technical and cost estimation efforts for Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and Configuration Management (CM) activities.

Oversee engineering studies and participate in Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs) with customers and subcontractors.

Support the Risk and Opportunity Board for programs and represent Engineering on Failure Review Boards (FRBs).

Advocate for the end‑user perspective and act as the Voice of the Customer.

Serve as the “Face of V2X” to senior technical customers for programs.

Leverage the core production support team to quickly resolve production floor issues.

Escalate issues and risks appropriately within the Program Office, WSI Chief Engineer, and Engineering management.

Chair internal technical reviews (e.g., Production Readiness Reviews [PRRs], FRBs, Consent to Ship [CTS] Reviews).

Represent Engineering on Material Review Boards.

Lead technical collaboration with internal and external customers to pursue new production and repair opportunities.

Ensure adherence to contractual and internal technical/production processes.

Guide technical solution development with emphasis on transition to production activities.

Chair and provide technical direction to the Engineering Review Board (ERB) and support the Configuration Control Board (CCB) as the technical chair.

Align program efforts WSI area product/technology strategies by actively collaborating with the WSI Chief Engineer.

Work with Mission Assurance/Quality teams to resolve factory or vendor non‑conformance issues.

Support the Program Office in monthly program reviews.

Oversee staff forecasting for programs.

Mentor and support team members as needed.

Required Skills

Experience with internal engineering processes and managing projects.

Project Engineer or Manager experience.

Strong technical background with project leadership experience.

Earned Value Management (EVM) experience in tracking and optimizing cost and schedule performance.

Production and manufacturing support experience.

Desired Skills

Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.

Proven track record of delivering successful engineering projects.

Eight (8) or more years of successful Department of Defense (DoD) program management or Integrated Product Team (IPT) leadership.

Experience with DoD Internal Research and Development (IRAD), Customer Research and Development (CRAD), Technical Demonstration (TD), System Development and Demonstration (SDD) or Engineering, Manufacturing, & Development (EMD) Programs.

Experience in DoD Production, Depot, Refurbishment, or Repair type programs.

Expertise with weapon systems, special mission military platforms, architectures, capabilities, customers, and/or missions.

Leadership experience on aerospace/defense programs, particularly for large prime contractors as a subcontractor.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering field with 14+ years of experience.

Master’s degree in Engineering or MBA preferred.
