$120,000.00/yr - $150,000.00/yr Principal Consultant - Power and T&D EPC
A leading power delivery organization is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to support the planning, design, and execution of high‑voltage transmission and substation projects. This position combines hands‑on engineering with project leadership, requiring technical depth, sound judgment, and strong collaboration skills across engineering, construction, and operations teams. What You’ll Do
Lead the design and execution of overhead transmission and substation projects from concept through commissioning. Develop engineering drawings, specifications, and material lists for substation and transmission system construction. Support the development of project scopes, budgets, cost estimates, and schedules while ensuring adherence to internal standards and regulatory requirements. Perform technical reviews of drawings, designs, and bid documents for constructability, safety, and cost efficiency. Coordinate with cross‑functional teams – including real estate, procurement, construction, and system operations – to support all phases of project delivery. Engage with contractors, suppliers, and manufacturers to evaluate proposals, resolve technical issues, and ensure quality performance. Use project management and analytics tools (e.g., MS Project, Oracle BI) to monitor costs, forecasts, and progress updates. Review and develop alternative engineering solutions to optimize performance and reduce costs. Maintain active field involvement to verify design intent and ensure safe and reliable construction practices. Stay current with emerging technologies, standards, and best practices within the transmission and substation engineering field. Participate in emergency response or restoration efforts as assigned. What You Bring Required
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering. At least 8 years of progressive experience in utility, EPC, or consulting environments supporting transmission or substation projects. Strong understanding of power system design principles, equipment specifications, and construction processes. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management tools. Excellent organization, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively across teams. Must hold a valid driver’s license and be able to travel as needed. Preferred
Master’s degree in Engineering or related discipline. Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification. Experience with high‑voltage systems, protection and control, or substation automation. Field presence and travel within the project region are required. Involvement in company emergency response or storm restoration activities may be expected. Benefits
