System Test Engineer
and help deliver connections that change the world.
What You’ll Do Test our newest satellite terminal, integrating multiple components and access networks to deliver an improved customer quality of experience (QoE). Work cross‑functionally to develop and perform testing on the diverse satellite network ecosystem.
Write test documentation, including test plans, procedures, and test cases. Support lab build‑up to implement the testing.
Prepare test plans, procedures, and customer needs to guide the effort. Build custom test hardware and automation using company and industry standards. Shepherd test system deployment from hardware/software integration to design verification to full‑rate production.
Location: Reston, VA – just 25 miles from Washington, DC.
What You’ll Need
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field
5+ years of experience crafting test requirements, test plans, test cases, and methodologies for manufacturing that guide system development
Proficiency with lab equipment like oscilloscopes, power supplies, and boundary scan
Familiarity with Linux operating systems and basic troubleshooting skills
Experience with satellite or wireless systems engineering, including integration and deployment of mobile systems
Knowledge of antenna and RF design principles
Networking fundamentals – OSI model, Layer 2 and Layer 3, MAC addresses, IP addresses, TCP and UDP protocols
Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem‑solving skills
Ability to work with multi‑disciplined teams in delivering highly complex solutions
Knowledge and application of configuration management best practices
Ability to obtain a SECRET US security clearance
Up to 15% travel
What Will Help You On The Job
Master’s degree in a STEM field
Experience with RF link performance analyses and link budgets
Familiarity with mobile SATCOM operations
Programming or scripting language experience (Python, C/C++, Java, or other)
Experience with requirements traceability tools (DOORS, JAMA, etc.)
Experience with Inmarsat Global Xpress and Viasat waveforms, terminals, provisioning, and service
Satellite industry knowledge and relationships
Salary $101,000.00 – $159,500.00 per year (San Jose, SF Bay Area, NYC ranges higher).
