The Avionics Test Engineering organization is a global engineering organization responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of the manufacturing test solutions in support of the $5B Avionics strategic business unit as well as external customers including armed services and airlines both domestic and international.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Participate in program planning and risk management both technical and programmatic from bid to deployment phase

Develop Test System requirements and validation procedures; provide technical solutions for building the Test Solutions as per the requirements

Collaborate with both project teams and external end users/customers

Primary interface coordinating with Production/Service Center, Design Engineering, and Test Engineering Hardware and Software engineers

Integrate working with multiple disciplines to ensure a successful solution development, delivering through sustainment

Perform Verification and Validation of Test Solutions

Perform trade study and market analysis to benchmark industry leading Test Solutions

Support Product line strategy for Test Solutions; support process improvement and reuse of technical solutions at a Systems level

Support Test time reduction and analyze test failures

Provide technical mentoring to other junior engineers

Occasional travel to Iowa manufacturing sites

QUALIFICATIONS YOU MUST HAVE

Typically requires a STEM degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree with minimum 3 years of experience, or in the absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience

Experience with engineering development tools such as DOORS, Jama, Matlab, Atlassian collaboration tools, and Microsoft Office 365 suite

Experience in requirements verification and validation, and developing verification criteria and procedures for the requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams to achieve operational goals

Experience in requirements development including stakeholder analysis, decomposition of systems level requirements into hardware and software sub‑systems

Good organizational skills

Experience with Agile Methodologies

Experience with modern scripting languages (e.g., C++, LabVIEW, Python, etc.)

Experience with avionics industry standards, such as ARINC‑429, ARINC‑661 (display interface), ARINC‑664 (AFDX), ARINC‑818, and IEEE 802.3 (Ethernet)

Problem‑solving skills with the ability to proactively identify alternate solutions to overcome difficult technical challenges

Detail‑oriented and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD – 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
