Duties/Responsibilities
Management and implementation of experimental design, coordination of technical support and graduate students engaged with specific research projects, data analysis and optimization of polymer applications and equipment utilization and analytical evaluation of materials.
Conduct research on a pre‑specified project as well as projects that evolve through collaborative engagement with the current NMI biopolymer and coating teams. Responsible for senior experimental design, coordination of technical support and graduate students, data analysis and optimization of polymer applications and equipment utilization.
May be involved in project‑specific grant writing, regulatory document preparation and publication where applicable (non‑proprietary or confidential research).
Primary responsibilities will include the formulation and production of biologically degradable adhesives.
Research leader with a background in polymer chemistry and adhesive formulation is needed to meet the objectives for targeted research.
Percentage of Time 65% dedicated to experimental design, coordination, data analysis, optimization, grant writing; 35% dedicated to project evolution, collaborative engagement, and regulatory/ publication tasks.

Position Summary The postdoctoral associate will conduct research on a pre‑specified project as well as projects that evolve through their collaborative engagement with the current NMI biopolymer and coating teams. Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification In Position Applicants should have a Ph.D., or equivalent degree, with a background in polymer chemistry and adhesives.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And/or Competencies Familiarity with polymer chemistry and adhesives; preferred knowledge in formulation and production of biologically degradable adhesives for paper coating applications.
Physical Demands Standing/sitting for long periods of time in respect to adhesive formulation, production and coating field trials.
