Senior Accountant
Cherry Coatings, a family‑owned commercial paint contractor established in 1968, operates across Texas, Arizona, Tennessee, and beyond. We provide architectural, industrial, and maintenance coating services to general contractors, property management firms, and facility managers.
Location Farmers Branch, TX – Home office for our growing team.
Role Overview We are looking to add an experienced and motivated Senior Accountant to our growing Farmers Branch, TX Team. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for general accounting functions including preparing journal entries, maintaining balance sheet schedules and ledgers, and account and bank reconciliations in accordance with GAAP. They will also assist with monthly closings and account analysis.
Responsibilities
Conduct account analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and review the general ledger to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
Collaborate with internal departments and project managers to gather, analyze, and interpret relevant financial information to support monthly and annual close processes.
Review project variances – job cost, project budget, WIP, and associated billings.
Maintain accounting for fixed assets including company vehicles.
Process month‑end close functionalities promptly.
Support compilation of financial reports and KPIs.
Apply knowledge of business insurance, CCIP, and OCIP processes.
Maintain financial historical records, supporting documents, and internal accounting controls.
Assist with internal and external audits for accuracy and completeness.
Prepare 1099s, sales tax, property tax filings, and other tax preparations.
Streamline existing processes, document current procedures, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Perform other duties as needed and/or assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
At least 5 years of experience in general ledger accounting or similar.
Prior POC accounting experience within construction and/or manufacturing environments highly preferred.
Strong knowledge of cost analysis, accounting policies, procedures, and reporting.
Attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines.
Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
Ability to learn new processes and absorb information quickly in a growing business environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Construction industry knowledge a plus.
Experience with CMiC a plus.
