Senior Compensation Analyst ARS-Rescue Rooter

Overview The Senior Compensation Analyst is responsible for assisting the Payroll Management team in ensuring accuracy and timeliness of weekly and semi-monthly payroll processing, while adhering to all federal, multi-state, and local regulations.

Responsibilities

Participate in daily payroll processing functions for a large multi-state payroll department, reviewing and verifying payroll documentation and analyzing transactions for completeness, accuracy and compliance with ARS policies, and government laws and regulations.

Assist in the preparation, processing and balancing of weekly and semi-monthly payroll runs to ensure timely and accurate processing, ensuring that compliance requirements are met and proper controls are followed.

Research and correct issues found during payroll processing.

Process off‑cycle payments, manual checks, voids, stop pays, direct deposit reversals, overpayments, death payments, separation agreements and payroll adjustments as necessary.

Investigate questionable data from branches and take corrective action, when necessary.

Assist team members, branch payroll/HR, managers/supervisors in answering and resolving payroll related questions or problems; bring questions/concerns to the attention of Compensation and Compliance Manager.

Maintain relationship with pay card vendor, ensuring that vendor maintains branch pay card inventory and replenishment stock when appropriate; fund special pays, reconcile accounts and maintain acceptable balance.

Coordinate and participate in activities supporting payroll related audits and requests for payroll related information from our Legal Department as well as outside agencies.

Assist in preparing and processing quarter and year‑end annual tax reconciliation, including preparation of employee W‑2s and employer tax returns.

Participate in process improvement teams; evaluate current processes and procedures, identify opportunities for improvement, develop new processes/procedures, implement, and assess the impact of change.

Conduct audits to validate internal controls to ensure accuracy and compliance with policies, practices, and regulations related to payroll.

Perform other duties as assigned at management’s discretion.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, accounting, or related field, and 5+ years of experience in payroll, HR, or related field are required.

Related experience and/or advanced training or any equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Must be computer literate with intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

This job requires the ability to create and interpret spreadsheets and operate general office machines.
