The Department of Medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM) invites applications and nominations for the position of Division Chief of Hematology/Oncology. This is an extraordinary leadership opportunity to shape the future of a nationally recognized division within a vibrant academic medical center and a designated NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Division of Hematology/Oncology at IUSM has a legacy of landmark contributions to cancer care and hematologic science. Notable accomplishments include Dr. Lawrence Einhorn’s curative cisplatin-based therapy for testicular cancer and Dr. Hal Broxmeyer’s pioneering work in cord blood transplantation. Today, our division is home to a robust and growing research enterprise with strengths spanning basic, translational, and clinical research. It plays a central role in advancing the mission of the Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center, one of only 56 NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the country.
We are seeking a collaborative and visionary leader who will drive innovation across the division’s tripartite mission of clinical care, research, and education. The ideal candidate is a physician-scientist with national stature in hematology or oncology, a proven record of academic leadership, and an enthusiasm for building inclusive and interdisciplinary teams.
The Division Chief will oversee more than 90 faculty members and lead efforts to:
Expand innovative clinical programs in both benign and malignant hematology and solid tumor oncology
Grow investigator-initiated and early-phase clinical trials
Strengthen basic and translational science initiatives through collaboration with centers of excellence, including the Precision Genomics Program, Brown Center for Immunotherapy, Vera Bradley Foundation Center for Breast Cancer Research, and Tom and Julie Wood Center for Lung Cancer Research
Recruit, mentor, and retain outstanding faculty
Support the development of fellows and trainees
Facilitate cross-disciplinary collaboration with partners across the IU Health system and statewide campuses

Basic Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include a MD or equivalent with eligibility for medical licensure in Indiana
Academic credentials appropriate for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor
Additional Qualifications
National recognition in Hematology or Oncology
Demonstrated leadership experience in an academic medical center
Track record of extramural funding and/or leadership in clinical trials
Commitment to fostering a culture of excellence and innovation
