The Financial Analyst for Payments will be responsible for the reconciliation of transactional data across various MBTA Automated Fare Collection (AFC) systems and platforms ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial/transactional data across multiple systems. This position will ensure the accuracy and traceability of all transactions in the MBTA AFC systems while supporting the daily duties of the AFC Fraud and AFC Operation teams. Retrieve daily reports from multiple AFC systems (S&B, SAP, Fiserv, WorldPay, and AMEX applications) to facilitate the reconciliation process. Perform daily AFC reconciliation of transactional data across various systems and platforms, including but not limited to bank transactions and financial transactions. Identify discrepancies in AFC transactional and payment data by investigating and analyzing underlying causes. Manage and log issues in ServiceNow or other internal applications. Collaborate with internal MBTA departments such as Fare Revenue, Accounting, and Treasury to identify and communicate errors. Analyze AFC transactional data to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for process improvement. Prepare, analyze, and summarize operational results for review by various stakeholders. Design and create ad hoc financial reports. Develop and maintain documentation of AFC reconciliation procedures and findings for audit purposes. Assist in the implementation of new reconciliation tools or enhancements to existing reconciliation processes. Perform all other duties and projects that may be assigned. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Finance, Business, Public Administration, Economics, or related field. Two (2) years of experience in financial and/or fraud analysis. Advanced analytical skills, with experience collecting, organizing, and disseminating abundant information accurately. Experience working with transactional reconciliation tools and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle). Experience developing utilities and tools with Python or SQL scripting. The ability to use Microsoft Word and Database applications. Expertise with Microsoft Excel, ability to write formulas that draw information across sheets and make conditional formatting rules (vlookup, index/match, and pivot tables). The ability to pass the MBTA Advanced Excel test. Effectively communicate with customers, employees, vendors, contractors and state and federal agencies; have excellent customer service, conflict resolution, negotiation, communication, speaking and writing skills. Ability to work effectively with a diverse workforce. A High School Diploma or GED with an additional seven (7) years of directly related experience substitutes for the bachelor’s degree requirement. An associate degree from an accredited institution an additional three (3) years of directly related experience substitutes for the bachelor’s degree requirement. A master’s degree in a related subject substitutes for two (2) years of general experience. A nationally recognized certification, or statewide/professional certification in a related field substitutes for one year of experience.
