Director of Environmental, Health & Safety
for the
Meridian, MS
facility. This will be a multi‑site role with 40% travel to SUV & WEB Tech plants.
Director of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS)
leads, develops, and implements EHS strategies across both divisions, ensuring compliance with regulations and fostering a proactive safety culture.
Director of Environmental, Health & Safety Key Responsibilities
Develop and lead a comprehensive EHS strategy aligned with corporate goals and regulatory requirements.
Serve as the subject matter expert and advisor to executive and plant leadership teams on all EHS matters.
Set division‑wide EHS goals and KPIs; monitor and report progress regularly to senior leadership.
Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS programs, including:
Incident investigation and root cause analysis
Emergency preparedness and response
Industrial hygiene, ergonomics, and occupational health
Regulatory compliance (OSHA, EPA, state agencies)
Air and water permitting, hazardous waste, and sustainability initiatives
Heat illness prevention and safe work practices near high‑temperature equipment (e.g., paper machine dryers)
Manage and mentor a team of EHS managers, coordinators, and specialists across multiple sites.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional development within the EHS function.
Drive consistent EHS practices, standards, and tools across SUV and WEB Technologies plants.
Ensure full compliance with all relevant regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT, state/local).
Lead site audits, inspections, and assessments; identify gaps and corrective actions.
Serve as primary liaison with regulatory agencies and manage external audits or enforcement actions.
Maintain accurate EHS records and metrics across sites.
Analyze trends in incident reports, near misses, and compliance data to guide improvement initiatives.
Prepare and present monthly and quarterly EHS performance reports to executive leadership.
Partner with HR, Legal, Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance on cross‑functional safety initiatives.
Support capital projects and product innovations by ensuring EHS is embedded in planning and execution phases.
Integrate EHS practices into business continuity, quality, and supply chain programs.
Director Of Environmental Health & Safety Qualifications
Minimum 10+ years of progressive EHS experience, with at least 5 years in a multi‑site leadership role in a manufacturing environment.
Deep knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, DOT, and state/local regulations.
Experience in building materials, roofing, pulp/paper, or high‑temperature manufacturing is highly preferred.
Proven ability to lead and inspire EHS teams, drive culture change, and deliver measurable results.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable presenting to executive leadership and external agencies.
Director of Environmental, Health & Safety Education, Licenses & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
Certifications such as CSP, CIH, CHMM, or PE highly desirable.
