Position Summary The Project Engineer II (SPE) works closely with the Project Manager to support and manage the structural design process from project inception through to construction. The SPE conducts structural analysis, prepares detailed plans and specifications, reviews contractor submittals, shop drawings and RFIs, mentors junior engineers and BIM technicians, and facilitates communication and coordination among clients, architects, municipal agencies and the design team.
Engineering Skills and Responsibilities
Conduct structural analysis and prepare detailed plans and specifications.
Review contractor submittals, shop drawings and RFIs to ensure compliance with design intent.
Mentor junior engineers and BIM technicians, providing guidance on project work and technical aspects.
Facilitate communication and coordination among clients, project architects, municipal agencies and the design team.
Use structural software such as Rhino, Revit, RISA, ETABS, SAP and RAM to design structural elements.
Ensure all completed projects meet local codes, regulations and quality standards.
Accurately implement design criteria and perform independent analyses with little direction.
Collaborate with contractors to address construction issues and review shop drawings for alignment with design plans.
Client and Communication Skills
Effectively communicate verbally and in writing to ensure clear interactions with all parties.
Actively participate in calls and meetings with clients and facilitate communication between clients, architects and team members.
Provide accurate and valuable input to teammates and management to maintain and cultivate client relationships.
Demonstrate professionalism, respect and positive client relationship building.
Business Development and Revenue Generation
Assist in cost and personnel estimating and proposal preparation.
Participate in providing input on project budgeting and collections.
Contribute to business development efforts through positive client relationships.
Support the business with business development initiatives.
Teamwork and Leadership
Mentor and train junior teammates, providing guidance on technical aspects.
Maintain a positive, can‑do attitude and constructive approach to projects and teamwork.
Deliver professional and inclusive organizational culture, emphasizing teamwork, accountability and professional development.

Internal Operations
Comply with business requirements such as completion of timesheets, correct utilization of project codes and required training.
Comply with Health, Safety and Environmental requirements internally and on client sites.
Work with other teams, including Shared Services, to achieve business goals and objectives.
Minimum (Required) Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering or related field and seven (7) years of relevant experience in structural analysis and design of mid to high‑rise buildings, including project management;
or
Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and five (5) years of relevant experience in structural analysis and design of mid to high‑rise buildings, including project management.
Minimum 5 years of experience performing and supervising the design and analysis of mid to high‑rise buildings.
Minimum 5 years of experience utilizing software packages such as ETABS, RAM, RISA, Rhino, PCA and SAFE.
Minimum 5 years of experience preparing structural models and extracting data for wind tunnel testing and applying wind tunnel loads to the structural model.
Extensive knowledge of local and national building codes and design practices.
Knowledge of standard construction practices and ability to work with contractors to address construction issues.
Detail oriented with strong interpersonal, problem‑solving and team skills.
Deep knowledge of construction materials and methodologies.
Proven drafting skills, exemplified by a portfolio of prior work.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
Master’s Degree in Civil, Structural Engineering or related field.
Professional Engineer’s (PE) license.
Experience working in Grasshopper.
