Our client, a leading commercial real estate firm, is seeking an experienced Senior Property Accountant to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in property accounting, particularly within the commercial real estate sector, and will be responsible for managing the full cycle accounting for a portfolio of properties.
Key Responsibilities
Manage full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of commercial properties (office, retail, or industrial) Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP Perform bank reconciliations, CAM reconciliations, and variance analysis Ensure accuracy of general ledger and property-level financials Review and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments Coordinate with property managers to ensure accuracy of property-related financial data Assist with annual budgeting and reforecasting processes Prepare audit work papers and support external audit processes Maintain compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures Mentor junior accountants as needed; serve as point of contact for accounting-related inquiries for assigned portfolio Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 4–7 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in commercial real estate/property accounting Strong knowledge of GAAP and real estate accounting principles Proficiency in Yardi, MRI, or similar property management/accounting software required Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.) Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities Seniority Level
