Role Description The Johns Hopkins Hospital’s Pediatric Oncology Inpatient Unit provides specialized care for children and young adults with various cancers and hematologic conditions. Our patients include those with leukemia (ALL and AML), brain tumors, sarcomas (rhabdomyosarcoma, osteosarcoma, Ewing’s sarcoma), neuroblastoma, Wilms tumor, and other malignancies, as well as patients being treated for non‑malignant diseases such as sickle cell disease, aplastic anemia, thalassemia, and SCID. We offer cutting‑edge treatments including CAR‑T therapy and immunotherapy, providing comprehensive physical, psychological, and spiritual care from birth to 26 years of age.
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive nursing care to pediatric oncology patients, including assessments, medication administration, symptom management, and emotional support.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Educate patients and families about treatments, medications, and discharge planning.
Monitor for and respond to clinical changes, including managing complications and emergencies.
Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of patient care activities.
Foster a safe, supportive, and child‑friendly environment conducive to healing and comfort.
Must have authorization to work in the United States (sponsorship applicants will not be considered).
Qualifications
Associate’s Degree in Nursing required; applicants enrolled in an accredited BSN/MSN program within one year of hire and planning to complete within five years will also be considered.
Active Maryland or Compact RN license required.
BLS CPR certification required.
APHON Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider Certification required.
2 years of Pediatric Oncology and Cell therapy RN experience required.
Salary Range Minimum $36.31/hour – Maximum $56.28/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
