Assistant Attorney General – Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutor
Potential locations: Salem, Portland, or Eugene. Hybrid schedule; periodic travel throughout the state.
Responsibilities
Provide technical assistance and case support to state prosecutors for DUII prosecutions at any stage.
Develop and maintain a state‑wide resource for DUII case law; expand existing motion bank, expert witness materials, and other DUII resource materials.
Provide information on DUII law via the DUII list serve and the DUII section of the Oregon District Attorney Resource Network website.
Work on DUII publications; assess assistance requests to determine needs for additional resource materials, trainings, and other needs for successful prosecution.
Present at and assist with DUII‑related trainings; coordinate with other Oregon and national programs dedicated to combating traffic‑related crime, including the Governor’s Office and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
Qualifications – Required
Active member of the Oregon State Bar in good standing on the effective date of appointment.
Five or more years of practicing law as an attorney.
Demonstrated knowledge of criminal and evidence codes.
Demonstrated ability to work well with people from a variety of disciplines (e.g., state agency personnel, law enforcement officers, county prosecutors, etc.).
Excellent organization, analytical, oral presentation and advocacy, and writing skills.
Experience training prosecutors and/or law enforcement.
Willing and able to travel throughout the state and nation, sometimes overnight, in order to meet case, training, and outreach needs.
Strong work ethic and commitment to public service.
Able to successfully clear a comprehensive criminal background investigation and reference checks. Finalists will be subject to a thorough criminal background investigation and employment reference checks; adverse background data may be grounds for immediate disqualification.

Experience prosecuting cases with high public interest.
Heightened interest in DUII prosecution.
Experience prosecuting alcohol and drug‑related DUII cases.
Experience prosecuting DUII homicides.
