Job Summary MoDOT is seeking a highly qualified Senior Structural Engineer to provide professional engineering services for the statewide transportation improvement program (STIP). The engineer will design, review, and manage structural plans for bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and rehabilitations, ensuring safety and budget compliance. This position is located at Central Office, 105 West Capitol Avenue, Jefferson City, MO.

Responsibilities

Produce independent structural design calculations for new and rehabilitated STIP structures.

Develop structural design layouts detailing scope, structure type, and geometry for new bridges, culverts, and retaining walls.

Review construction plans, ensuring conformance to standards, procedures, and accepted practices.

Perform quality control and revise internal manuals, specifications, guidelines, and computer programs.

Serve as an expert structural engineering resource to other divisions and department teams.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.

Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Missouri.

Five years of post‑graduate experience in civil engineering with proven structural design proficiency. An advanced degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in structural design may substitute up to two years of experience.

Special Working Conditions

Occasional statewide travel required.

Advanced accreditation or licensure required, available only to holders of specific postsecondary degrees.
