Job Description Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine (J&J IM) is recruiting for a Data Scientist (co-op), located at our PA or NJ sites and also able to work remotely. The co-op will join the Digital, Data and Analytics team in a Data Scientist role within Johnson & Johnson's Innovative Medicines Quality & Compliance (IM Q&C) org. IM Q&C supports pharmaceutical quality in various domains including R&D, supply chain, commercial, product, and more. The role will involve design and implementation of historical, diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive data analytics, allowing innovative thinking in a fast-moving team adept at prototyping advanced techniques.
Key Responsibilities
Apply cutting edge data science techniques to solve high-priority business problems within J&J IM Q&C's domain.
Assist in creating new mechanisms to monitor for quality signals on an ongoing basis using advanced analytics, signal detection, natural language processing, machine learning, deep learning, graph analysis and time-series analysis.
Engage with diverse business partners to develop innovative trending and modeling capabilities that help improve current processes.
Bring capability and skills to contextualize quality data into insights that enable data-driven decision making.
Apply analytical/statistical methods to complex and disparate data sources to deliver actionable insights.
Bring together the critical factors of data, processes, and systems to create insight from information.
The Data Scientist Will
Work on a number of data science / data engineering projects and be given the opportunity to define innovative techniques to analyze data and generate insights.
Work within a dynamic fast-paced Productized Data Science team and learn how it operates.
Liaise with Subject-Matter Experts (SMEs) within IM Q&C to define, conduct and communicate data analytics.
Qualifications Education
Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a Bachelor’s, Masters or Ph.D. degree, preferably with a STEM major or area of concentration.
Required Experience and Skills
Available to work (Part-time or Full-time).
Legally authorized to work in the United States.
Highly organized and able to handle multiple responsibilities and keep track of details.
Flexible thinking to learn and embrace new ways of working quickly.
Intellectual curiosity to challenge current methods and bring in newer and better alternatives.
Proven ability to work individually (independently) as well as in a team setting.
Prior data science experience, i.e. analyzing real-world (noisy/imbalanced) datasets and developing algorithms to solve problems on them.
Prior programming experience in a Data Science language (R/Python).
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Experience
Experience with Data Engineering for Data Science, i.e. data preparation, data pipelines, data quality/integrity, feature engineering.
Experience with programming Generative AI applications.
Experience with UI/UX and front end development skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience with agile software development in a team.
