Administrative Staff Assistant – Best Starts for Kids – TLT/SDA Summary

Public Health – Seattle & King County is seeking a full‑time, Term Limited Temporary (TLT) Administrative Staff Assistant to join the Best Starts for Kids team. The Administrator will provide administrative support for the Best Starts for Kids leadership team, manage calendar and administrative functions for the cross‑departmental co‑leads, and support internal processes and community events.

Term and Location

Term Limited Temporary (TLT) – anticipated to last up to 2 years (December 31 2027). Hybrid work model: days in office (Chinook Building, 401 5th Ave, Seattle, WA 98104) and telecommuting. Remote/onsite ratio subject to business needs.

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; flexible start/end times available.

Job Duties

Schedule meetings and maintain calendars for cross‑departmental Best Starts for Kids co‑leads.

Plan, prepare, take minutes, and follow up after meetings and events.

Participate in development, coordination, and support of Best Starts for Kids projects.

Compose, draft, summarize, prepare, proofread, and edit documents, contracts, and correspondence on behalf of the leadership team.

Assist in data collection and analysis for assigned research projects; prepare summary reports.

Provide information to leadership team on administrative policies and procedures, including collective bargaining agreements.

Develop and implement monitoring and tracking systems; administer and monitor these systems.

Represent Best Starts for Kids and Health Sciences on internal committees or task forces as assigned.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

Intermediate skill in using work‑related software, including Microsoft suite.

Interpersonal and human relations skills.

Confidentiality and ability to handle sensitive matters.

Prioritizing workload and adapting to changes in workload demand.

Desired Experience

Familiarity working with community‑based organizations.

Skill in developing administrative systems or action tracking.

Basic knowledge of information‑gathering techniques and principles for research assignments.

Familiarity working with elected leadership.
