Public Health – Seattle & King County is seeking a full‑time, Term Limited Temporary (TLT)
Administrative Staff Assistant
to support the Best Starts for Kids leadership team. The position reports to the cross‑departmental Co‑Leads housed in PHSKC and DCHS and plays an integral role in supporting internal processes, community events, and optimal administrative function.
Term Details Temporary (Term‑Limited Temporary). The anticipated end date is December 31, 2027, but the county’s funding sources remain uncertain and may be adjusted based on decisions at the federal and local levels.
Responsibilities
Schedule meetings and maintain calendars for cross‑departmental Best Starts for Kids Co‑Leads, working independently to prioritize competing time demands.
Provide support for planning, taking minutes at, and following up after meetings and/or events, including internal, external, and public meetings.
Participate in the development, coordination, and support of Best Starts for Kids projects.
Compose, draft, summarize, prepare, proofread, and/or edit documents, contracts, and/or correspondence on behalf of the Best Starts for Kids leadership team.
Assist in data collection and analysis for assigned research projects; prepare summary reports of analysis.
Provide information to Best Starts for Kids leadership team on administrative policies and procedures, including but not limited to collective bargaining agreements.
Develop and implement monitoring and tracking systems to support Best Starts for Kids’ work processes; administer and monitor these systems.
Represent Best Starts for Kids and/or Health Sciences on internal committees or task forces as assigned.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate (Minimum)

Demonstrated intermediate skill in using work‑related software, including Microsoft suite.
Analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in organization.
Interpersonal and human relations skills.
Demonstrated skill in maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive matters.
Skill in prioritizing workload and adapting to changes in work‑load demand.
Desired (Competitive)
Familiarity working with Community‑Based Organizations.
Skill in developing administrative systems or action tracking of work assignments or projects.
Basic knowledge of information‑gathering techniques and principles for research assignments.
Familiarity working with elected leadership.
Work Schedule Typical work schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. This is a Non‑Exempt position and is subject to overtime eligibility.
Work Location Hybrid model: Office days in the Chinook Building (401 5th Ave, Seattle, WA 98104) and remote work as needed. Additional office location: 625 Andover Park West, Tukwila, WA 98188. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite.
