Assurance Experienced Manager, Accounting Advisory & Outsourcing Join BDO USA as an Assurance Experienced Manager, overseeing the full‑life cycle of finance and accounting outsource engagements. You will develop proposals, manage staff, review final work products, and drive portfolio financial performance while maintaining strong client relationships, timely billing, and issue resolution.

Job Summary The role manages the entire engagement lifecycle, delivers client solutions, and collaborates with senior leadership for technical and business advisory support.

Client Service Delivery

Manage engagements by providing technical expertise in finance and accounting. Perform general ledger reconciliations, record transactions, create financial statements, and conduct financial analysis.

Understand client technology packages and recommend efficient usage. Learn and apply new technologies to engagements.

Facilitate discovery meetings, use open‑ended questions to identify client objectives and financial information needs.

Design integrated solutions, vet them internally, and outline concise documents for leadership.

Determine solution cost, calculate client benefits, and propose fixed‑fee pricing when margins support profitability.

Collaborate with senior managers to formulate recommendations on technical accounting issues, financial policies, and financial management; educate clients on evolving needs.

Periodically review solutions with clients and recommend changes when business state changes.

Manage conflict proactively, engaging senior leadership when conflicts arise.

Support clients through business changes, executing change management plans and managing the full engagement lifecycle.

Gather necessary client information, maintain a running list, follow up, and organize data for easy access. Build strong business relationships with clients, both internal and external.

Understand tax planning considerations, analyze tax return data, and refer tax matters to Core Tax and Specialty Tax Services.

Business Development

Learn business development strategies and target industry services. Record prospect and sales info in CRM.

Recommend and design solutions for clients.

Evaluate client risk factors and develop statements of work with leadership support.

Develop exposure to industry teams and business development resources, attending industry trade groups.

Identify new opportunities with existing clients and communicate them to leadership.

Articulate Advisory service offerings and the broader firm to prospects and contacts.

Understand and articulate the value proposition and target market/client profile.

Developing Others

Foster a culture of change and accountability.

Identify staff needs to develop analytics and forecasting skills and train staff accordingly.

Ensure senior associates and associates are trained on relevant software, processes, and resources.

Act as a career advisor to senior associates and associates.

Evaluate the performance of senior associates and associates, providing professional development goals and objectives.

Participate in recruiting efforts for associates and senior associates and assist with onboarding.

Serve as a resource for associates and senior associates, deepening knowledge of finance and accounting functions, technology, and tax planning.

Project Management

Create a work plan following project management best practices.

Bills engagements in a timely manner and manages economic management matters such as forecasting and monitoring key metrics.

Scope new projects and construct fee estimates incorporating all details.

Oversee client satisfaction with quality of work products and engagement performance.

Ensure timely billing and follow billing and collections best practices; resolve billing issues.

Other duties as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervise the day‑to‑day workload of senior associates and associates on engagements and review work products.

Supervise overall client engagement; review work and provide feedback on final work products.

Education & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

Seven or more years of general accounting experience; three or more years of supervisory experience preferred.

Experience with outsourced or delivery center operations preferred.

Consultative or business advisory experience preferred.

CPA certification preferred.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with QuickBooks Online, Microsoft NAV, Bill.com, and industry research tools preferred.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong analytical and research abilities; GAAP knowledge; solid organizational skills.

Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

Compensation National Range: $120,000 - $145,000.

Maryland Range: $120,000 - $145,000.

NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $120,000 - $145,000.
