Description
The Chief Engineer is responsible for: Major equipment repairs and maintenance including laundry and kitchen equipment, pumps, motors, air handlers, cooling towers, HVACs, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, and operating equipment. Handling unit calls to repair major items (e.g. broken cabinetry, sofa frames, major appliances). Performing building exterior repairs and shop projects as assigned by the General Manager. Being site specific but may be assigned to any project within the company and to any resort that generates a need. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Chief Engineer’s primary responsibilities will include: Conducting pre-shift meetings and receiving project work assignments from the General Manager. Performing scheduled preventive maintenance on all major equipment including: Laundry equipment Cooling tower Pumps Motors Repairing all major equipment as needed. Repairing all major in-unit items as needed (appliances, cabinetry, sofa, doors, etc.). Providing “on-call” response on a 24/7 basis as scheduled. Organizing and maintaining filing systems and files correspondence and other records. Conducting research and compiling and typing statistical reports. Maintaining records of warranty information for all hotel equipment. Maintaining pool chemical levels and cleanliness. REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITY
Good verbal and written skills. Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities. Significant experience with all maintenance. Good mechanical troubleshooting and analytical skills. General handyman skills. Good attitude and maturity to work with limited supervision. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education – High school diploma required. Professional tradesman certification in at least one discipline: electrician, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, carpentry. Certification in pool chemical maintenance. Experience – Five years experience in a related field preferred. Two years experience as a head or Assistant Chief Engineer in the same or similar environment.
