The Role:
We are seeking a Test Systems Engineer (TSE) who will be responsible for power electronics product development testing and lab equipment support. A successful candidate should be capable of supporting all aspects of a test plan, including development and delivery of test equipment, writing test scripts, as well as hands‑on execution of product development testing. This work requires strong problem solving, learning agility, and analytical skills. Tasks, objectives, and assignment direction are provided by management and senior test engineers, but the job also requires the ability to multi‑task and work well in a self‑directed environment. The engineer works as an integral member of a Product Development Team with members from other disciplines including electrical and mechanical design, development, program teams, technicians, and R&D to measure, improve, and verify product performance and reliability. What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
Support testing power electronics (Semiconductor Devices, DC/DC Converters, On-Board Chargers, V2X Converters, Traction Inverters) through all phases of product development (Advanced Engineering, Product Development & Validation, Field & Warranty)
Write and develop test procedures with requestors based on their objectives
Execute developmental and characterization tests such as thermal and electrical
Collaborate with technician staff to develop test setups
Modify test scripts and equipment when necessary to ensure proper execution
Maintain frequent communication with customers, and others outside of work group
Report, organize, and analyze test results with the product development team
Prepares formal written test reports
Identifies potential improvements of test methods and practices, and works with a team of test engineering peers on continuous improvement goals & objectives
Actively participate in solutions of engineering related product problems (Root Cause)
Support design and delivery of both automated and manual functional test equipment
Provide support for remote test installations including occasional travel locally as required
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or Physics
2+ years of engineering experience
Performs occasional moderate lifting of equipment (up to 20 lbs, 1-2 times per day)
Can work independently as well as possesses high level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with small and large teams
Excellent written and verbal communications skills including MS Office capability (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Has the ability to maintain multiple projects
Excellent electrical hardware troubleshooting skills
Able to make decisions quickly and decisively based on data and results to resolve test and product issues
Software programming skills to be able to develop test scripts
Ability to read electrical schematics and drawings
Ability to operate common electrical laboratory equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, function generators, power supplies)
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
Experience in software and revision control such as LabVIEW, Diadem, git, and Bitbucket
Familiarity with automotive communication protocol and tools such as CAN, Automotive Ethernet, Vehicle Spy, INCA
Familiarity with automated testing and data acquisition systems such as National Instruments
Familiarity with Electrification technology such as power electronics and motors
Experience in a high voltage laboratory
Experience in development or validation testing for automotive products
