Under Research and Development, we share our expertise and knowledge to establish, maintain and improve measurements in the GIA global laboratories; to develop solid scientific foundations to support GIA standards and ensure public trust in gems and jewelry. We are looking for a self-motivated individual to support instrument maintenance and service in global advanced testing operations and research-related activities.**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**Other duties may be assigned.Performs routine maintenance and upgrades on a variety of complex analytical equipment and instrumentation. Troubleshoots and repairs malfunctioning laboratory equipment as necessary; coordinates activities with peers, managers, vendors and users to minimize equipment downtime and interruptions. Improves and/or develops needed expertise to assist in the development and improvement of service processes. Works jointly with R&D team to improve existing or develop new instruments. Serves as interface between R&D teams and production teams. Responsible for maintaining inventory, service contracts and administrative records in a timely manner. Remain current on equipment/tools through appropriate training, manuals, technical bulletins and other relevant materials. Keeps updated on knowledge of new technologies, processes and methods of analytical instrumentation. Travels domestically and/or globally using commercial transportation resources for service and testing purposes. Communicates effectively, gets along with coworkers and management, and deals with other effectively and professionally under pressure. Other duties may be assigned as the business need warrants.**TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)**To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
