Communications and Events Associate

Temple Shir Tikva is a vibrant and growing Reform Jewish congregation located in Wayland, Massachusetts with nearly 650 member units. The Communications and Events Associate will be an essential member of the team at Temple Shir Tikva. This position will report to the Executive Director and will work closely with the Director of Congregational Engagement, other administrators, clergy, lay leadership, and congregants.
Communications
Produce graphically attractive and informative weekly newsletters and other regular communications to the entire Temple community to inform the community of activities and events, and publicize the temple activities throughout MetroWest
Identify or create eye-catching information graphics that support our brand and communicate effectively
Write and edit newsletter articles, blog posts, social media postings, and flyers
Update website and community calendar with current event information and other community news
Maintain the communications calendar
Publish regular social media postings and maintain social media presence
Maintain a library of useful resources for social media and communications
Help develop standards and style guidelines for communications
Recommend additional communication channels that could be used to market Temple activities
Partner with the Marketing and Communications Trustee to execute strategy related to those areas
Events
Coordinate monthly Community Pizza Dinners and Yeldaim and Byachad services
Provide support for community events and celebrations
Assist with event and service setup and breakdown
Greet and welcome guests for services
Help coordinate High Holy Day services and logistics
Assist with event set-up and break-down, including weekend B Mitzvah
Skills required
Organizational skills: excellent phone and email skills, excellent writing, editing and communication skills, ability to take initiative and work independently
Relational skills: able to learn about people- names, stories, situations; works well with a team; ability to juggle competing priorities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive
Proficiency or ability to learn Microsoft Teams and MailChimp
Proficiency or ability to learn WordPress and Canva
Proficiency with social media (Facebook, YouTube)
Proficiency or ability to learn ShulCloud (synagogue database and CRM), scheduling apps, tools for digital communication, invitations, surveys/forms
Familiarity with Reform Judaism preferred
Enjoys working directly with synagogue members and prospective members to provide understanding and support for their individual needs, including personal and financial.
A customer service mindset with a high emotional intelligence and a “say yes” mentality
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong graphic design skills
Education/Experience College degree strongly preferred
Work Schedule
Full time, 37.5 hours per week
Occasional work on weekends and major Jewish holidays
Salary/Benefits
Annual salary of $50-$52,000
10 Days paid vacation
Complimentary TST membership
