The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Software Engineer–Test & Verification (Associate or Experienced) to support our KC‑46 team located in Tukwila, Washington. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization.

In this role, the individual will be part of the Software Test team conducting software/hardware integration testing and formal qualification test (FQT) of Aerial Refueling and Mission System Software with a focus on leadership, quality, process improvement, tool improvement and test automation.

We are seeking an individual that is passionate about aerospace and excited to work in a multi‑disciplined, collaborative engineering environment that supports the design, development, and implementation of software for existing and emerging government and international programs.

This exciting position requires demonstrated experience as a Software Test engineer, knowledge of the full software development life cycle (requirements, design, code, test and certification), and the clear exhibition of superior judgment and decision making to engineer new solutions and support existing capabilities for multiple programs and customers. Demonstrated critical thinking and troubleshooting skills are required.

The Boeing KC‑46 “Pegasus” is the new US Air Force aerial refueling tanker aircraft designed to support multi‑role missions including refueling, cargo/passenger transport, and medevac airlift. The KC‑46 is a military commercial derivative aircraft based on the Boeing 767‑2C aircraft and modified per US Air Force specifications for the primary mission of aerial refueling US and Allied aircraft. The KC‑46 is equipped with self‑protection, defensive and communication systems making it more survivable in a contested environment.

Position Responsibilities

Designs, develops, and completes test and verification of software products to ensure quality, reliability, and functionality.

Partners with stakeholders to review and identify software requirements, test objectives, test strategies, and testability.

Designs test plans, cases, and scenarios to meet software requirements and specifications.

Sets up and configures test environments, including hardware, software, and network configurations to replicate production environments.

Executes test cases and scenarios to verify functionality, performance, and safety of software systems, identifying and reporting defects, issues, and potential vulnerabilities found during testing processes.

Provides test results and feedback on software design and functionality to resolve defects, issues, and potential vulnerabilities.

Creates, documents, and maintains test plans, procedures, cases, artifacts, metrics, and data in accordance with data privacy and security protocols and standards.

Develops and maintains automated test scripts and frameworks to improve efficiency and effectiveness of testing processes.

Performs software project management functions across test and verification activities involving multifunctional teams.

Basic Qualifications

5 years of direct experience designing and developing software test plans, test cases and test procedures.

5 years of direct experience executing software test procedures and documenting results.

5 years of experience in software development using languages such as C, C++, Java or Ada.

5 years of experience with Linux based operating systems, command line tools and scripting languages.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements This position requires the ability to obtain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. Ability to obtain Secret U.S. Security clearance (Post‑Start).

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range for Associate Level: $90,950 - $123,050.

Summary pay range for Experienced Level: $112,200 - $151,800.
