Primary Purpose

Provide support for both internal and external communication needs of the district and campuses with a focus on web content, district marketing and community relations. Assist department with written materials and social media. Minimum Qualifications Education/Certification

Bachelor’s degree from accredited university in communications, digital journalism, radio-television-film or related discipline preferred. Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee. Knowledge/Skills

Working knowledge of content management systems utilized to manage and create websites

Strong writing, editing and research skills Working knowledge and experience with marketing campaigns and/or community relations Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and tasks Ability to consistently meet deadlines Ability to work with stakeholders at all levels, including the general public Experience:

Manage district and campus websites, including coordination of campus webmasters Assist in design, preparation and editing newsletters, brochures, programs or other collateral materials. Produce podcasts, videos, and presentations. Support promotion of DVISD brand. Available via telephone or email as needed to ensure district and campus websites contain accurate emergency information, including monitoring of the District’s website and social media accounts during an emergency. Assist with creation of multimedia content for publicity, including videos, photography, social media, and website content Remain current regarding trends, new technologies and software for video production and distribution Monitor feedback and community sites to identify trending district-related topics Monitor trends and current issues regarding social media usage by public entities Monitor social media and website metrics and produce periodic reporting with a focus on content effectiveness Organization Management

Oversee and monitor web and app presence and content for district and campuses Monitor website metrics and produce periodic reporting with a focus on content effectiveness Determine need for content additions or navigational changes Ensure website is accessible and compliant with federal and state requirements Serve as liaison for campus contacts on website-related issues and assist campuses with content as needed Provide staff training on website updates Troubleshoot technical issues that arise and work with technology staff and vendors to resolve them Assist in the development and communication of standards, regulations or policies regarding use of electronic communications Research and implement template updates, in conjunction with technology staff Professional Growth and Development

Develop training options and/or improvement plan to ensure exemplary operation of the communications function. Provide professional development for the parent involvement program (Parent Community Liaisons) and ensure compliance with required monthly reports and documentation Participate in state level organizations to stay abreast of latest research and best practices. Read, synthesize, and disseminate professional research and information related to best practices. Participate in all required meetings and professional development opportunities to improve job-related skills. Qualities of an Effective Coordinator

Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job. Be able to work tactfully and efficiently despite pressure situations and frequent interruptions. Application of current communication tools; such as video, photography, website, podcasts, social media, and standards. Comply with district and campus policies and procedures, as well as state and federal laws and regulations. Comply with the standards of conduct set out in Board Policy DH (Legal) and (Local) and with any other policies, regulations, and guidelines that impose duties, requirements, or standards. Demonstrate a high level of personal integrity, a collaborative leadership style, and high ethical standards. Compile, maintain and file all reports, records, and other required documents. Maintain emotional control under stress. Work with frequent interruptions and maintain emotional control under stress. Repetitive hand motions; prolonged sitting and prolonged use of computer. Work prolong or irregular and extended work hours to include weekends, as needed. Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds). Occasional reaching prolonged use of computer, moderate standing, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling twisting and lifting. Frequent district wide travel. Occasional statewide travel. Frequent exposure to: temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise, low or intense illumination vibration. Occasional exposure to: biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.), work outside, work around moving objects or vehicles, work on uneven surfaces.
