Communications Specialist
Salary: $22.36 per hour.
Location: Administration.

Job Summary The Francis Howell School District (FHSD) is seeking a Communications Specialist with a strong technical background, excellent communication and customer service skills, and creative expertise in photography, videography, and/or design. This role is key to maintaining and enhancing District and school digital platforms while engaging our staff, students, and community.
Primary Responsibilities
Maintain District and school websites
Provide technical support and customer service to school sites
Monitor Communications, eNews, and Website email inboxes and respond appropriately
Lead accessibility efforts for communications-related platforms (websites, eNews, social media)
Train school staff on communications tools such as Constant Contact, Peachjar, and SchoolMessenger
Partner with the District's Technology team to ensure system and data accuracy and troubleshoot technical issues
Secondary Responsibilities
Write content for social media, newsletters, and District website
Capture photos at school events
Assist with planning and coordination of District events
Support logistics for District initiatives (vendor sourcing, ordering supplies, etc.)
Produce video content as assigned
Minimum Qualifications Education
High school diploma or equivalent required
Degree or coursework in journalism, communications, education, or public relations preferred
Experience
Job-related experience with increasing responsibility
Previous experience in journalism, communications, education, or public relations preferred
Skills & Knowledge
Strong technical skills, including website management and video/graphic production
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of public relations and community engagement strategies
Strong project management and organizational skills
Abilities
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. of equipment and perform video production tasks
Adaptable to changing priorities and able to support diverse groups
