Wastewater Construction Management II (Mechanical Inspector)

Role Overview
The Construction Management II (CM II) - Mechanical Inspector inspects and documents mechanical construction in an industrial environment. They ensure work is performed safely and correctly and in compliance with drawings and specifications. The CM II is the second level in a three-level inspection classification group and works closely with the team to upgrade aging wastewater infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Review submittals and shop drawings for conformance with contract plans and specifications. Ensure that construction is in compliance with contract plans and specifications. Prepare field notes and submit daily written reports regarding projects in progress. Prepare other written reports as requested. Assist in contractual change order preparations and negotiations. Interpret construction schedules for progress impacts and slippage. Provide input for contract dispute resolution. Review and interpret engineering design drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with acceptable construction methods and wastewater treatment requirements. Provide written comments to project team during the design review process. Monitor the work performance of contractors and assist in the review of progress payment applications.
Qualifications
Knowledge of the construction of mechanical and structural facilities, especially as applied to wastewater treatment or heavy industrial facilities. Experience with managing construction activities in operational environments and knowledge of hazards and safety procedures involved. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications as applied to wastewater treatment facility and large conveyance systems. Thorough knowledge of construction methods, with emphasis on mechanical and conveyance system installations. Ability to inspect materials and workmanship and recognize deficiencies and omissions requiring correction. Knowledge of relevant construction laws, ordinances, codes, regulations, specifications and standards. Ability to communicate clearly both written and orally.

Experience working in active treatment plants and pump stations. Familiarity with setting large pumps.
Licenses and Certifications
Valid Washington State Driver's License
Physical Requirements
Outdoor work, work on ladders, step up and over or under obstacles in an industrial environment.
Workplace Exposures
Possible exposure to loud environments, confined spaces, heights, and occasional respirator use.

Work Location: Brightwater Treatment Plant – 22505 State Route 9 SE, Woodinville, WA 98072 Work Schedule: Full-time, 40‑hour work week. Overtime eligible under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Union Representation: King County Technical Employees' Association (TEA) bargaining unit.
