Residential Domestic Violence Advocate Join Child and Family Services of Erie County, Inc. to make a direct positive impact on individuals experiencing domestic violence and their children.

Shift Information Tuesdays‑Saturdays. Tuesdays‑Fridays 7am‑3pm, Saturdays 8am‑4pm.

Major Responsibilities

Listen and counsel adult shelter residents, conduct crisis intervention as needed.

Lead group sessions and support groups, conflict resolution sessions.

Retain up‑to‑date case files and progress notes.

Maintain necessary records, statistical information, activity sheets, documentation, logs.

Engage in case conferences and case reviews as assigned.

Attend program meetings, initiate and engage in creative programming.

Meet residents’ primary needs during shift (token distribution, supplies, etc.).

Assist with facility cleaning and supplies.

Transport residents in agency vehicle to appointments.

Engage in community presentations as required.

Provide administrative duties (copies, intake files).

Advocate legal and social services for residents.

Cover crisis telephone hotline.

Remain alert at all times; no napping during shifts.

Report plant emergencies or security breaches.

Model sensitivity, fair treatment, diversity acceptance.

Participate in quality improvement process.

Promote empowerment according to Social Work and Domestic Violence Movement principles, trauma‑informed care.

Perform related duties per program coordinator.

Maintain vehicle safety and usage policy compliance.

Use agency phone and email systems following customer service protocol.

Maintain positive working relationships with staff and others.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) or related field, or Associate’s degree with experience.

Valid NYS Driver’s License and insurance.

Team player.

Fast‑paced office setting experience.

Smoke‑free work environment adherence.

Rotate shifts, evenings, weekends, holidays.

Bi‑lingual English/Spanish appreciated.

Prior domestic violence experience or trauma victim experience appreciated.

CPR or nursing skills appreciated.

Familiarity with or clinical training in mental health and substance abuse appreciated.

Competitive Pay $20 per hour.
