Heart Failure Nurse Practitioner, Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, Cardiovascular Medicine
Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine is a top-ranked educational and research institution. We are recruiting two full-time cardiology nurse practitioners to join our collaborative, multidisciplinary cardiology team.
Job Title
Heart Failure Nurse Practitioner (HF NP) & IV Infusion Nurse Practitioner (IV NP)
Location
Boston, Massachusetts
Position Type
Full-Time/Regular
HF NP: Duties will focus on comprehensive management of heart failure patients in the outpatient clinic, coordinate patient education, and perform intensive phone triage. This includes telephone-based assessment and management of urgent heart failure-related concerns, offering guidance on symptom management, medication adjustments, and urgent care needs to help reduce hospital readmissions.
IV NP: Duties include clinical management of cardiology patients receiving intravenous and subcutaneous therapies in an outpatient cardiology clinic, infusion suite/clinic, or hospital-based setting. This role involves providing direct patient care in collaboration with cardiologists, NPs, and cardiology pharmacists. The IV NP will be initiating and managing IV infusion treatments, monitoring patient responses, and coordinating ongoing cardiovascular care. The IV NP will triage cardiology-related consultation infusion requests from the Emergency Department, outpatient clinics, and inpatient teams and help determine appropriate outpatient follow-up or HF infusion clinic care. The IV NP will also support patients receiving advanced treatments such as subcutaneous therapies for amyloid cardiomyopathy and other cardiology related infusion therapies. Outpatient clinic sessions may be incorporated on days that infusions are not scheduled.
Required Skills
For both positions, we are seeking applicants with strong clinical judgment and ability to manage patients autonomously within defined protocols. Expectations include participation in care coordination including scheduling, post-treatment follow-up, and ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests (labs, ECGs, echo) to guide treatment decisions. Both positions report to the Heart Failure Director, Chief APP, and Division Chief. Prior cardiology and heart failure clinical experience is preferred. The nurse practitioner must be licensed to practice in the state of Massachusetts.
