Job Summary VIZ Media, the world leader in English-language versions of manga and anime, is looking for a highly motivated and passionate Marketing Manager to join our team. The Marketing Manager works closely with various teams and departments to develop strategy, identify market opportunities, offer strategic insights, and execute marketing campaigns to generate profitable, sustainable growth across multiple brands and products.

What you’ll do:

Participate in planning and executing overall marketing strategy, including market research, planning, and managing multiple projects.

Collaborate with a wide variety of functional areas such as sales, editorial, licensing, marketing, production, brand management, design, social media, and operations to execute specific marketing plans for each assignment.

Facilitate marketing programs and approvals with applicable stakeholders.

Prepare marketing objectives and schedules for all phases of product solicitation and introduction to market.

Review specification sheets, obtain and prepare bids, and act as liaison with partners and vendors in areas such as delivering marketing material, scheduling proofs, and meetings.

Conduct market research to identify and track market trends in the entertainment industry. Applies this knowledge to increase the effectiveness of promotional projects.

Participate in key sales events and presentations for the product.

Acquire and organize campaign results. Develop reports and presentations for management.

Manage day-to-day progress of marketing plan execution, from execution to postmortem.

Represent Marketing on assigned discipline teams, as well as at appropriate marketing launches, production and editorial meetings, cover meetings, division meetings, and other meetings as required.

Travel to and participate in trade shows and other business trips when necessary.

Produce competitive analysis materials comparing products with key competitors upon request.

The ideal candidate has:

At least 5 years of marketing experience in a relevant industry

Experience with Asana or other project management software

Creative marketing copywriting skills, with proven ability to engage readers

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public

Experience writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals

Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines

Professional communication skills, capable of engaging with a culturally diverse range of clients, providers, and staff

Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience, with a record that demonstrates suitable preparation for this position

Additional preferred experience:

Experience in anime and manga/publishing/entertainment/home video fields

Experience with digital asset management software

Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and video editing program knowledge

Location The Marketing Manager position is open to candidates local to the San Francisco Bay Area. VIZ Media operates on a hybrid schedule, and the Marketing Manager should expect to work onsite 1‑2 days per week at our San Francisco office. The Marketing Manager must also be able to travel to trade shows throughout the year.

Schedule This is a Regular Full‑Time position with core hours of 9 am to 5 pm with some flexibility as needed.

Compensation $80,000 – $95,000 annually, depending on experience, with additional variable compensation.
