Manager of Commissioning
with 10+ years of experience. This position reports to the Director of Commissioning. The ideal candidate must have expertise in building commissioning, team and client management experience, and some business development experience in the building commissioning environment working with private and public sector clients. Position Responsibilities
Work with Divisional and Firm Leadership to develop and implement the commissioning strategy for the company. Assist project managers to provide appropriate resources to successfully execute commissioning projects. Establish specific work plans and estimates to complete for department staff assigned projects. Supervise efficient execution of projects and staff to meet the performance metrics and goals of the department. Manage expectations and communications with clients for projects providing commissioning and technical support. Supervise staff or self‑perform the following:
Development and execution of a project specific commissioning plan involving design review, system installation verification, and functional testing. Development of spreadsheet analyses and written reports; perform field assessments and on‑site commissioning activities. Functional testing of building systems including MEP and controls systems. Complete USGBC LEED commissioning tasks and credit completion. Building energy and resource use analysis through energy simulation software.
Execute Osborn’s QA/QC process for the commissioning on projects. Maintain backlogs and manpower forecasts to ensure proper staffing levels and department utilization. Perform staff resource management and annual reviews including timesheet and expense report approvals. Assist human resources on recruitment and training efforts. Conduct business development activities by participating in various trade organizations and preparing or leading client presentations. Job Requirements / Qualifications
10+ years of experience in commissioning in the building industry. Strong writing and communication skills. Ability to promote department and staff career growth. Demonstrated leadership and presentation skills. Strong knowledge of MEP/FP building systems design and construction processes. Strong knowledge of building automation systems. Strong knowledge of the test and balance process and procedures. Experience in Healthcare, Sports, Commercial, Public Sector, Industrial, Education, and/or Institutional projects a plus. Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering (or engineering technology) preferred. Hold a current BCxP, CCP, CxA, or CBCP certification. LEED AP with specialty a plus. PE preferred. Experience using web‑based commissioning management software a plus. Physical Demands
Frequent use of a computer for several hours at a time. May need to periodically climb ladders (step, fixed, etc.) and navigate over and under barriers. Lift and/or carry equipment (i.e., ladders, test equipment) weighing up to 30 pounds. Work Environment
Indoors in normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise. May travel to and navigate construction sites, some of which may be at high altitudes or small spaces with dirt or dust particles. Travel
Periodic, overnight, work‑related travel (as‑needed). Additional Information
