Electrical Project Engineer – QA/QC (Central Region)
Black & Veatch is inviting applications for the Electrical Project Engineer – QA/QC (Central Region) position at its Engineering and Construction practice. This full‑time Staff role is located in the U.S. Central region with the possibility of hybrid or flexible work after the first 90 days. Key Responsibilities
Function as a quality control/quality assurance engineer within the substation quality management group (QMG). Perform QA/QC of substation design packages, including physical design, protective relaying/control with an emphasis on continuous improvement. Collaborate with substation design teams, review lower‑level engineering work, and provide technical guidance on design guides, standards, engineering codes and B&V policies. Prepare engineering deliverables for larger projects, manage budget, schedule and quality requirements, and coordinate with internal and external project teams on moderately complex projects. Communicate client interests and drivers, support business development activities, mentor lower‑level professionals, and contribute to continuous improvement and change management efforts. Preferred Qualifications
Experience in substation QA/QC reviews, substation design (physical and/or protection & controls), and coordination with clients, multidisciplinary leads and project managers. Professional Engineer (PE) license. Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office programs. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited program. Minimum of 5 years related work experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (criminal background check, drug screen, motor vehicle record search) in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Location and Relocation
Ideal candidates will be located or willing to relocate to one of the following U.S. Central Regional Power Offices: Kansas City (Overland Park, KS); Houston (TX); Minneapolis (Bloomington, MN); Chicago (IL). Compensation
Annual compensation range: $109,460.00 – $201,080.00.
