The Opportunity As Electrical Project Engineer, you may have the opportunity to:
Function as a quality control/quality assurance engineer within the substation quality management group (QMG).
Perform QA/QC of substation design packages, including physical design, protective relaying/control with an emphasis on continuous improvement.
Collaborate with the substation design team.
The ideal candidate will be located or willing to relocate to one of the following U.S. Central Regional Power Offices: Kansas City (Overland Park, KS); Houston (TX); Minneapolis (Bloomington, MN); Chicago (IL).
Key Responsibilities
Continually develop knowledge and provide guidance on design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes, and B&V policies. Provide technical guidance to others regarding projects and disciplines.
Independently apply knowledge and comply with B&V quality program relative to assigned tasks; support continuous improvement and change management efforts.
Prepare engineering deliverables for larger or multiple projects; perform research and develop recommendations for equipment and materials selection; prepare engineering calculations following standard methods and principles; manage assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
Actively coordinate with all other internal/external team members on moderately complex projects.
Assist with identification of key client interests and drivers on high voltage substation projects; communicate client interests and drivers to project team members and develop approaches to accommodate these concerns in the performance of the work on high voltage substation projects.
Recognized as a technical specialist and provide consultation and guidance to project teams in a particular practice area; foster knowledge management and provide mentoring.
Typically assist with performance management process, mentoring, recognition, and any corrective actions required; may participate in career planning, and learning and development.
May assist with resource management strategy and have responsibility of engineering resources for small groups of a single discipline.
Ensure policies, procedures and processes are effectively implemented and communicated for work group; ensure adherence to corporate and division programs; approve timesheets and expense reports.
Preferred Qualifications
Substation QA/QC Reviews – Quality Assurance/Quality Checks
Substation design experience – Physical and/or Protection & Controls
Experience coordinating and communicating with Clients, Multidisciplinary Leads and Project Managers
Professional Engineer (PE) License
Proficient with Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office Programs (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from a recognized accredited program.
Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
All applicants must be able to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (criminal/civil background check, drug screen, motor vehicle records search).
Work Environment / Physical Demands Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon manager discretion, job performance and work assignments.
