What is special about this role? The HR Generalist plays a crucial and multifaceted role in the People team. This position will act as a dedicated HR Business Partner for our Lab Operations department based in San Diego, managing various aspects of the employee lifecycle/ providing general HR support, as well as providing critical operational support (approximately 50% of time) to the Recruiting function within our People team. This is an exciting opportunity for a tech‑savvy, rising HR professional to gain broad experience and contribute to key People initiatives.
As An HR Generalist, You Will HR Business Partner (Lab Operations)
Develop a solid understanding of the business, build relationships with assigned client group, and create close partnerships across the organization
Manage employee relations issues; with support from the HR Operations team
Provide guidance and coach managers and other team members on HR policies and best practices
Partner with managers on performance reviews, calibrations, and compensation discussions to ensure fairness in decision making
Participate in the Recruiting process by reviewing requisitions for appropriate leveling and compensation
Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee data in the HRIS systems (US and international), ensuring data integrity and confidentiality
Recruiting Support
Execute proactive sourcing strategies using tools like LinkedIn Recruiter and our ATS (Gem) to build robust pipelines of qualified candidates for a variety of critical roles
Conduct initial resume screening and in‑depth profile reviews to evaluate candidates against technical requirements
Orchestrate complex interview schedules across multiple time zones, ensuring a smooth and positive experience for both candidates and internal hiring teams
Serve as the primary point of contact for candidates throughout the interview process, handling all logistical communications with a professional and welcoming demeanor
Conduct preliminary phone or video interviews to assess foundational qualifications and candidate alignment
Maintain pristine data integrity by managing and updating candidate information in Gem
Contribute to employer branding initiatives and recruiting events as needed
Partner with the recruiting team to enhance our hiring operations by identifying and implementing AI‑driven tools and automations, boosting efficiency and data accuracy
People Programs & Project Support
Participate in the evaluation and enhancement of HR processes to streamline operations and improve efficiency
Leverage AI tools and technologies to optimize workflows, automate repetitive tasks, and enhance HR processes
Employee Lifecycle & General HR Support
Provide back‑up support to the HR Operations team in various aspects of the employee lifecycle, such as onboarding, offboarding, benefits and reporting
Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and company policies when handling sensitive HR data, and with applicable employment laws and regulations
Office Support
Participate in the coordination of San Diego office activities when required
About you:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
2+ years of experience in HR operations, HR administration, or a related role
Proficiency in HRIS systems and Google applications
Proactivity, curiosity and a strong drive/ initiative to explore new ideas and solutions
Strong interest and enthusiasm for AI technologies, demonstrated by knowledge of current AI trends and practical experience using AI tools to enhance work processes
Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with employees at all levels
Strong teamwork and customer service orientation to resolve issues quickly and accurately
Solid understanding of HR processes and practices, with knowledge of employment laws and regulations

Expected Helix Base: $72,000 - $104,250
Expected Helix Discretionary Annual Bonus: 10% of your annual salary
