Join the team as a Relationship Banker at Bank of Hawaii. This role is based at the Pearlridge Branch and focuses on delivering exceptional customer service, engaging clients with modern banking technology, and meeting both short‑term and long‑term financial needs.
Job Description At the direction of the Branch Manager, the Relationship Banker creates outstanding customer experiences by engaging clients with superior service, ensuring clients understand how digital and mobile alternatives can complete their banking transactions quickly and efficiently. The Relationship Banker introduces and sells financial products and services to meet clients’ needs, processes all types of financial transactions, balances own cash, and assists with vault, ATM cash recycler, and armored car duties.
Responsibilities
Proactively engage existing and prospective clients to understand and interact with 21st century banking advancements, demonstrating transactions using technology, handling objections, and providing exceptional customer service.
Manage flow of activity throughout the branch, assess and fulfill client needs, handle and resolve complaints, and escalated unfulfilled client concerns to the appropriate branch or department.
Maintain and sell financial services to clientele by addressing both their long‑term and short‑term goals through profiling, cross‑sell, open new accounts, call on prospects, and perform teleconsulting.
Sell financial products and services, make referrals, interview, process applications, and close for all consumer credit products while providing a high level of quality service to customers.
Process a wide range of financial transactions (cash checks, accept deposits, pay withdrawals, accept payments, issue cashier’s checks, sell traveler’s checks, etc.), balance individual cash, open and close the vault, and perform duties of ATM, vault, cash recycler, and armored car transactions.
Train new employees on operational procedures, maintain close contact with customers and prospects, make appreciation calls, and actively promote the bank and its products and services through public announcements and aisle relationship building.
Keep informed of current bank policies, procedures, federal laws, and regulations and maintain strong knowledge of new products, programs, and sales promotions.
Perform all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry. If not yet registered, complete registration no later than 30 days from employment or transfer date. If not registered and accepted, employment may be terminated.
High school diploma or G.E.D.
Minimum 3 years of experience in consumer sales, marketing, and/or customer service or equivalent work experience. Banking and financial services preferred. Demonstrated success in a retail banking environment and desire to advance skills in personal finance, including investments, insurance, mortgage, and small business products and services.
Proficiency with personal computers in a networked environment and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or similar software. Knowledge of or ability to use bank software and systems including PC teller, Customer Information System (CIS), and check imprinter.
Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Must be an effective and efficient team player with strong sales, marketing, customer service, negotiation, analytical, detail‑oriented, and organized skills. Must be able to meet fixed and changing deadlines, follow up consistently, push a cash cart (100 lbs.) and/or lift approximately 20 to 25 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required or assigned.
