Revenue Cycle Banner Health is seeking an experienced Inpatient Facility Coding Specialist to join our Acute Care Hospital coding team. The ideal candidate has strong PCS coding experience and the ability to code a wide range of complex charts across all service lines, including Trauma, ICU, Cardiac, Transplant, Orthopedics, High-Risk OB, NICU, and more. 5 years recent experience in Inpatient Facility-based coding. Experienced in ICD-10-PCS and ICD-10-CPT coding. Must be currently certified through AAPC or AHIMA, in minimum qualification level. Will be given a Coding Assessment after a successful interview. The 48‑hour assessment will be completed within the 48‑hour window. This position is for facility-based inpatient coding. Interested in Outpatient and/or Physician coding? Check other Coder positions. Hours are flexible within an 8‑hour shift between 5 am–7 pm (Monday‑Friday). This is a fully remote position available to residents in the following states only: AK, AR, AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, ND, NE, NM, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WI & WY. Position Summary: The role provides coding and abstracting for high tiered complexity acute care services at all Banner hospitals. Responsibilities include reviewing diagnosis information, coding, abstracting diagnoses and procedures, completing MS‑DRG and APR‑DRG assignments, upholding ethical coding standards, and serving as a subject‑matter expert for experimental and newly developed procedural and diagnostic inpatient coding. Analyzes medical information and accurately codes using national coding guidelines. Abstracts clinical diagnoses, procedure codes and documents additional pertinent information. Provides coding quality assurance and ensures compliance with state Medicaid, CMS, OIG and HCFA regulations. Acts as a knowledge resource, mentors less experienced staff, and collaborates with education teams. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma/GED or equivalent, with specialized training in medical terminology and coding. Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Outpatient Coder (COC), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), RHIT, RHIA, or equivalent AHIMA/AAPC certification in active status. Five or more years of inpatient coding experience in an acute care facility. Ability to work effectively in a remote setting. Preferred Qualifications: Associate’s degree in a job‑related field.
