Certified Emergency Medic – ED/ER
Full‑time Night Shift, 7pm – 7am

Responsibilities
Assist with the implementation of supportive nursing care under the direction of the Registered Nurse and Medical Director.
Provide patient care within a defined scope of practice that includes observation, specified treatments and procedures, environmental and personal safety, and effective communication.
Collect pertinent data and report clinical and psychosocial findings to the RN or ED Medical Director; chart appropriately.
Collaborate with RNs and Medical Providers to care for adult and trauma patients using advanced skills and judgment.
Interpret ECGs, administer IV therapy, maintain airway patency, and initiate approved protocol orders and guidelines for patients in the ED setting.
Adhere to safety guidelines for patients and staff, observe national patient safety goals, and recognize signs of abuse or neglect.
Prepare patients for discharge as ordered by the RN, ensuring all orders, treatments, and documentation have been completed.
Report equipment malfunctions, environmental and housekeeping issues to the appropriate department promptly.
Comply with policies for risk entry, event reporting, and incident documentation.
Manage routine problems, prioritize tasks, and apply effective time‑management skills.
Resolve interpersonal conflicts and participate in cost‑ and waste‑reduction efforts.
Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and colleagues.
Qualifications Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent; completion of an approved EMT‑P program.
Experience:
Preferred – one year of paramedic experience in a hospital setting or two years in a pre‑hospital setting.
Licenses/Certifications:
Current South Carolina Paramedic certification; BLS required on hire; ACLS and PALS within 90 days; PHTLS within 6 months; CPI within 90 days; NREMT Paramedic certification.
Skills and Knowledge:
Completion of a basic arrhythmia or monitor tech class within 90 days or successful dysrhythmia testing with 100% accuracy.
