Job Summary Provide independent advanced practice provider clinical expertise to patients and their families on an ongoing basis. Responsibilities include managing chronic stable medical conditions, routine care, acute or critical care, and executing medical and specialty protocols specific to the department. Perform non‑invasive or invasive procedures, surgical procedures, and assist in operative procedures as approved by the Medical Staff Office. PA’s act as an expert resource for nursing, residents and ancillary staff.
Minimum Qualifications
California Licensed Physician Assistant (PA)
DEA Certificate within 3 months of hire
National PA board certification
AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) or UC Davis Health CPR
AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Master’s degree or PhD from an accredited Physician Assistant program
One year or greater recent clinical experience as a PA in a PICU, PCICU or pediatric cardiac step‑Down setting
Ability to work flexible hours
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Self‑direction and organizational skills to function in an independent role
Ability to meet minimum standards for hospital credentialing and billing standards as a billable provider
Preferred Qualifications
AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Two or greater years of experience as a PCICU Physician Assistant
