Position Summary

This individual will lead the “Platform & Systems Support” Engineering team, responsible for high level of technical support across the NBA’s broadcast infrastructure. The role focuses on complex issue resolution, system reliability, and engineering excellence across intercom, audio, video, IP, and distribution systems. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and a proactive approach to supporting mission‑critical broadcast operations and evolving production models.

Major Responsibilities

Lead the Platform & Systems Support Engineering team, providing advanced technical support and escalation management across all broadcast systems.

Serve as the escalation point for complex technical issues, driving root cause analysis and long‑term solutions.

Oversee and support intercom and audio systems, including configuration, maintenance, and optimization of platforms such as Riedel Artist, Riedel Bolero, and RTS.

Collaborate with third‑party vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure performance and reliability of master control and signal distribution services.

Partner with Production & Broadcast Ops teams to evaluate and implement new production models, including cloud‑based and remote workflows.

Advise engineering leadership on system buildouts, and infrastructure upgrades, providing technical feedback and support to ensure scalable, resilient, and efficient solutions.

Support remote events and live production environments, including arena‑based systems and technical deployments.

Maintain and enhance the NBA’s High‑Speed Arena Network (HSAN) and other critical transmission infrastructure.

Participate in a rotating on‑call support schedule, providing emergency response and technical leadership during incidents.

Required Education/Professional Experience

Minimum of 10 years of experience in broadcast engineering, with at least 3 years in a Tier 2 or senior support role.

College degree in Communications/Engineering or related field required; significant field experience may be considered in lieu.

Required Skills/Knowledge Attributes

Proven leadership experience managing Tier 2 or senior‑level technical support teams.

Deep expertise in intercom and audio systems, particularly Riedel and RTS platforms.

Strong background in broadcast engineering, including video routing, signal transport, and delivery infrastructure.

Advanced knowledge of video compression, video over IP, and Software Defined Video Networks.

Familiarity with broadcast standards, especially SMPTE 2110 and related protocols.

Experience with non‑linear production systems such as EVS or equivalent.

Strong vendor management skills, including SLAs, support coordination, and lifecycle planning.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively under tight deadlines.

Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.

Salary Range:

$165,000 - $190,000
