Senior Broadcast Support Engineer – Live Highlights & Streaming
The Senior Broadcast Support Engineer – Live Highlights & Streaming will provide hands‑on technical support for the NBA’s live production and streaming operations, with a primary focus on EVS highlight systems, live highlights workflows, and end‑to‑end streaming delivery. This role will support mission‑critical broadcast environments across studio, remote, and digital platforms, ensuring reliable capture, replay, and distribution of live content to partners and NBATV.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in EVS workflows, live production environments, streaming platforms, and IP‑based broadcast infrastructure, combined with the ability to troubleshoot under pressure and collaborate effectively across production, engineering, and digital media teams.
Major Responsibilities
Provide operational and technical support for EVS replay systems used in live highlights creation, ingest, and playout.
Configure and maintain EVS servers, IPDirectors, XTAccess, XFile/XFile3, and related tools for live broadcast and digital streaming workflows.
Support live clipping, file transfer, transcode, and metadata workflows for highlights distribution to broadcast and digital platforms.
Troubleshoot EVS and streaming‑related issues in real time during live events and productions.
Collaborate with production teams to ensure smooth delivery of live highlights to broadcast partners, NBA platforms, and global digital endpoints.
Maintain and support IP‑based broadcast and streaming systems, including encoders, transcoders, and contribution/distribution workflows.
Assist with system upgrades, configuration management, and integration of new technologies into existing workflows.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, workflows, and SOPs.
Train operators and end users on EVS and streaming workflows.
Participate in an on‑call rotation, providing emergency technical support during live events.
Required Education / Professional Experience
4–7 years of technical engineering experience in live broadcast, sports production, or streaming operations.
College degree in Communications, Engineering, or related field required.
In lieu, a college degree significant field experience will be considered.
Required Skills / Knowledge Attributes
Hands‑on experience with EVS systems (XT‑VIA, XT3/XT4K, IPDirector, XTAccess, XFile, or related).
Strong knowledge of live production workflows, including replay, highlights, and content distribution.
Familiarity with streaming technologies (encoders, transcoders, etc.).
Knowledge of broadcast IP standards (AES67, SMPTE ST 2110, Dante).
Strong troubleshooting skills across video, audio, and IP networking environments.
Experience integrating EVS with asset management and file‑based workflows.
Ability to work effectively in high‑pressure, live production environments.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.
Salary: $115,000 – $145,000
