Intellectual Property Allowance Specialist
Sughrue Mion PLLC, a leading intellectual property law firm located in Washington, DC, is seeking an experienced Intellectual Property Allowance Specialist. The position will review and process Notices of Allowance while ensuring all prosecution requirements and outstanding issues have been properly identified and addressed; e‑file Issue Fee transmittal documents in the USPTO; review and report Issue Notification documents and Letters Patent Grants. The specialist must maintain established productivity and accuracy standards, pay strong attention to detail, and ensure adherence to firm policies and procedures designed to meet specific client requirements. Essential Functions
Organize and prioritize workload based on internal and external due dates and client instructions Review files and incoming USPTO correspondence for accuracy Prepare forms and client correspondence for attorney review and signature E‑file documents in the USPTO, transmit correspondence to clients, and update electronic files accordingly Maintain accuracy and productivity standards as set by the Director of IP Services and the Post‑Allowance Manager Maintain working knowledge of current USPTO rules and procedures Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Post‑Allowance Manager Job Requirements
Education:
Some college preferred. Additional secretarial, business, or technical training helpful Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of patent prosecution experience or 2–5 years at a patent firm; knowledge of USPTO practices and procedures required; knowledge of USPTO e‑filings required Location:
