Consumer Lending Funding Specialist I – San Diego County Credit Union Pay range: $25.25/hr – $32.50/hr (actual pay based on skills and experience).

Position Summary Responsible for the preparation of documents, funding, and maintenance of Consumer Loan applications in compliance with applicable Federal, State, and NCUA rules and regulations. Maintains loan quality and ensures loan packages are completed accurately prior to funding, meeting the organization’s quality service standards.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Strong human relations and communication skills.

One to three years of financial institution experience, or funding capacity.

One year of consumer lending experience.

College level math and analytical skills.

Basic PC and Microsoft Office skills.

Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑intensity environment.

Proven ability to multi‑task, manage workflow processes, and meet deadlines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Confirm and verify that appropriate documents are assembled in loan files for proper vesting, collateral descriptions, and contract signatures; ensure accurate data input in related information systems.

Process indirect and direct auto loans, Auto Buying Service loans, and other consumer loan types, working closely with automobile dealerships and branch staff to ensure efficient funding within established guidelines.

Ensure timely receipt and completion of all outstanding loan stipulations, closing loans within appropriate time frames.

Provide and communicate file status and clear instructions for required documentation for loan funding.

Prioritize workload to manage timely loan funding and track files; maintain communication with internal staff and dealerships.

Perform clerical duties such as processing incoming mail, uploading documents, and assembling final loan files for imaging.

Keep updated on the credit union’s lending updates, criteria, guidelines, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance.

Prepare direct consumer loan documentation and disburse proceeds according to policy and regulatory guidelines; review all supporting documentation for validity prior to funding.

Contact branch staff, members, and dealers to resolve issues and obtain necessary information for funding.

Answer and service incoming calls, providing accurate information and supporting branches with funding questions; deliver in‑depth consumer lending and funding support.

Monitor and complete assigned tasks on department reports within established timeframes.

Assist with registration and titling duties as needed and participate in compliance training, including AML/BSA policies, CTR rules, OFAC comparisons, and suspicious activity referrals.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

Perform other duties as assigned.

May process direct auto loans when needed.

Participate as needed in SDCCU car sales or other events.

Physical Demands and Work Environment The position requires frequent talking and hearing, reaching with hands and arms, occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds, and the ability to see at close, distance, and peripheral ranges. The work environment is moderate in noise. Typical schedule is Monday‑Friday, 8:00 AM‑5:00 PM; full‑time, 40 hours.
